Amed was previously known as one of the closest departure points from Bali to the Gili Islands and Lombok. However, regular fast boat services from Amed Harbour are currently unavailable.
Travellers staying in Amed, Tulamben and East Bali can still easily reach the surrounding islands by taking a car transfer to nearby harbours. The most popular option is Padang Bai Harbour, with daily fast boat departures to Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, Gili Meno, Lombok, Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. For some routes, especially to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, travellers may also choose departures from Sanur Harbour, which offers frequent daily connections.
